Binge... If You Dare

Forgot to Grow Up; Weekend Binge List #1

Do you always have trouble deciding what to watch with the seemingly endless amount of tv shows and movies available to us today? Do you get into arguments with your significant other or friends over what to watch? Do you waste hours and hours flipping through Netflix just to re-watch one of your fall back films or tv shows? Well no more good people because Forgot to Grow Up has your Weekend Binge List ready and waiting for you to spend your weekend binging on the couch and eating terrible junk food just like our ancestors used to.

Movies to Binge:

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast:

The new live action B&TB was recently added to Netflix and if you were (like me) one of the few souls who didn’t make their way to the cinema to check it out, then this weekend is the perfect chance to attempt to check out this live-action remake of a cultural touchstone. Probably the most family friendly movie on this list so best to watch when you have to babysit or have company over. Or just to watch on a Friday night with a bowl of popcorn.

The Expendables 3:

What’s a weekend Binge List without a fun action movie and The Expendables are the definition of fun action movie?! With over the top gun fights, ridiculous stunts and a cast of Hollywood action stars doing what they do best, The Expendables 3 is the perfect fun action movie for any weekend afternoon. This film will have you diving back into the 80s & 90s actions movies that made most of the actors in this movie household names... Which no one can spell, seriously Arnie help a brother out with that last name!!

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off:

Have you ever woken up on a Saturday morning with the sun shining through your windows and you know it’s going to be a beautiful Saturday but you’re sooooo hungover from Friday night and can’t stand the thought of even getting out of bed but you also know you should because it might be the last nice Saturday before the Canadian winter hits? WELL if that’s the case, then Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is the perfect movie to inspire you to get out of bed and go enjoy the beautiful day out, after finishing the movie first of course. Ferris, Cameron & Sloane manage to make it to a baseball game, a fancy lunch, a museum visit, as well as a dip in the pool over the course of a few hours and you couldn’t even get out of bed. So, if this movie doesn’t get you out of bed after watching it then maybe just resort to watching the rest of the movies and tv shows on this Binge List.

Star Wars The Force Awakens:

Of course we had to have a Star Wars movie on the Binge List, we are Forgot to Grow Up after all. With the release of Star Wars The Last Jedi coming in December, those next several weekends are the perfect opportunity to re-watch every Star Wars movie before then. The Force Awakens gives you the nostalgia of the original Star Wars trilogy with the special effects technology of today. And Kylo Ren stops a blaster shot with the force which is literally the one thing that was missing from the original trilogy (I know Vader caught a blaster shot in his hand during the original trilogy and yes it was pretty cool for the time but I mean are you saying you wouldn’t have liked to have seen Vader stop that blaster shot mid-air?).

Big Daddy:

You Time to lighten the mood with a good old Adam Sandler classic, before he went off the rails and started dressing like a female version of himself for a movie and thought that was a good idea especially since it didn’t work for Eddie Murphy. However, luckily his 90s and early 2000s movies are still around to help us forgot about Jack & Jill and give us enjoyable, slightly-bordering-on-extremely inappropriate movies with ridiculous antics, side-hurting laughs and a little bit of heart to get you in the feels. Big Daddy was the perfect combination of those traits rolled into one of Adam Sandler’s best movies. Be warned this movie might make you tear up a bit at the end and also make you want to call your dad.

Tv Shows to Binge:

Stranger Things Season 1:

With Halloween around the corner and the second season about to drop at the end of October this is a great chance to check out the show for the first time or re-watch before the new season. With its retro theme and nostalgic feeling, Stranger Things offers a short season of a weird mystery involving some kids and a small town. So, if you need something to fill up an entire rainy Sunday or sunny hungover Saturday, then give Netflix’s Stranger Things a watch.

Archer Season 8:

If you haven’t already watched the first 7 seasons of Archer, then I don’t even know why you’re reading this list you clearly have 7 seasons of something to binge already. But if you have seen the first 7 seasons then you’re aware of what a stroke of genius Archer is. Following international spy turned private detective turned to gangster…I’m not sure about gangster but it’s late and we need words for the blog post. Anyways, season 8 of Archer doesn’t disappoint with a new setting and plotline this season delivers yet another uniquely Archer season of animated adventures. Season 8 is one of the bet Archer seasons yet so be sure to binge the whole season or series if you want some good inappropriate, slightly crude but still hilarious humor.

Big Mouth Season 1:

A late addition to the Binge List but for good reason, the recently released Netflix Original Big Mouth is an animated series about the awkwardness and extremely hilarious phase of life called puberty. Complete with a Hormone Monster whispering in preteen’s ears, this animated series is an extreme imagining of the troubles of puberty and the changes teenagers go through. NOT for very young viewers but an interesting take on how we are all affected by hormones and go through puberty in similarly unique ways. Sit back and enjoy some extremely inappropriate and crude humor. Some people may be offended in which case the show definitely wasn’t for you.
